Your top cruise holiday questions answered
What is a fly/cruise?
A fly cruise is also often called an air/sea cruise, and in both cases this involves a cruise whereby you fly to the port of embarkation, fly from the port of debarkation, or both. With a fly/cruise, the cost of all of your flights and transfers is included in the price of your cruise package too. In addition, all of your luggage will be transferred for you, and all baggage handling fees are include in the cost of your trip.
Do I need to take my passport?
This depends entirely on the type of cruise that you are travelling on, as well as where you are travelling to. When you book your cruise holiday, your cruise liner will let you know well in advance as to what documentation you will need to bring for your trip. In almost all cases you will need to bring some form of identification and proof of citizenship.
Is service the same throughout the whole ship?
The days of first class and cabin class are long gone. Today’s modern cruise liners are termed ‘one class’, which means that everyone on board can use all of the same facilities on board. Everyone on board can expect to receive exactly the same service no matter where they stay on the ship. The only difference now is in terms of where you stay on the ship, with larger cabins and cabins with preferential views costing more, just as you would expect from hotel rooms.
How much does the entertainment cost on a cruise ship?
The simple answer to this is that the entertainment on cruise ships is completely free. Once you have paid for your ticket, all the entertainment is on the house. Of course, if you want to gamble in the casino you will have to pay for your chips, and on some cruises you may have to pay for some of your alcoholic drinks as well, but apart from this you will not have to pay a penny to be entertained on a cruise ship.
